1.Who we are

2.Who this is for
You must be 18 or over to use this booth. Before generating an image you must tick the consent checkbox on the home screen, confirming you are 18+ and consent to the processing described below.
3.Lawful basis
Your selfies constitute special-category data under GDPR Article 9 (biometric data and data revealing racial or ethnic origin when we extract a physical description). We process them on the basis of your explicit consent (Article 6(1)(a) and Article 9(2)(a)). You may withdraw consent at any time by contacting us (see “Your rights” below), though this cannot undo processing already carried out.
4.What we collect
Three selfies taken in the booth, the character you pick, and the location text you type. We extract a brief physical description from your selfies (appearance, estimated age, clothing) to guide the AI generation. We also record a consent record (timestamp, IP address, device user-agent) for audit purposes. Location autocomplete is powered by Photon (OpenStreetMap).
5.How we process it
Your selfies are sent to Google’s Gemini AI three times: once to extract a physical description, once to match your location to a scene description, and once to generate the final styled image. Processing takes place on Google’s EU infrastructure under their Cloud Data Processing Addendum. Your selfies are deleted from our storage immediately after the image is generated (typically under one minute). Google may retain copies for up to 55 days under its safety-monitoring policy, after which they are automatically deleted. The generated image is stored on Cloudflare R2 (EU-region bucket) and shown to you.
6.Data retention
Selfies: deleted from our storage immediately after generation. Google may retain copies for up to 55 days under its safety-monitoring policy.
Physical descriptions: deleted immediately after image generation completes.
Generated images & consent records: retained for 30 days after the event, then permanently deleted.
7.AI labelling (EU AI Act)
The generated image carries a visible “Made with AI · MakeReign” chip and an invisible SynthID watermark applied by Google’s Gemini service. Both identify the image as AI-generated.
8.Public display & sharing
Your generated portrait appears on the event’s public display and website for the duration of the retention period. You can also download it or share it to social media using the share buttons on the result page. We don’t post to your social accounts on your behalf. To request removal before the retention period ends, contact us or use the delete option on your result page.
9.Your rights
Under GDPR you have the right to access, rectify, erase, or restrict processing of your personal data. You can also withdraw your consent at any time. To exercise any of these rights, email info@makereign.com or speak to a MakeReign team member at the booth. We will respond within 30 days. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Irish Data Protection Commission (dataprotection.ie).
